Shaky Red Wings – Episode II

After blowing two match points in Game 4 and 5 in the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Stars, the story seems to repeat itself for the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup finals.

Leading the best-of-seven series against the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1, playing match 5 in front of their home crowd, being up 3-2 only 60 seconds left in regulation: All that wasn’t enough for Detroit to secure their 11th Stanley Cup title.
It was Maxime Talbot who tied the match to 3-3 to enforce the first of finally three overtimes.

At 9:57 there, Czech Petr Sýkora scored for the Pens to put an end to the fifth-longest Stanley Cup finals game in history.

Game 6 will be played in Pittsburgh’s Mellon Arena on Wednesday, June 4.
The Penguins would be the first team in 46 years to come back from a 1-3 series deficit to win a Stanley Cup final series.
