Lindsay Davenport has withdrawn from Roland Garros
Former Wolrd-No. 1 Lindsay Davenport from the US has never won the French Open in Paris - and this won't change in 2008!
The Californian withdrew from this years Roland Garros (starting on May 24) quite surprisingly. Tournament organizers said on Tuesday, that the Californian had mentioned "personal reasons" - whatever this means.
We know, Davenport has never been a fan of the (European) clay court season - but this year, she appeared at an exhibition in Warsaw, Poland in the beginning of May. Although she didn't play the following events in Berlin and Rome (not a real surprise, though), everybody expected her to give it another try in Paris in 2008.
The 31-year-old's best result is reaching the semis at Roland Garros in 1998.
Besides Davenport, two other players from the US have also pulled out: Meghann Shaughnessy was forced to withdraw due to an injury to her left knee, Meilen Tu is suffering from a left hip injury.
