Celtics: Sixth time lucky
It was an unbelievable 131-92 victory that brought the NBA title 2008 to Boston yesterday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers came to Massachusetts, hoping for the definitive turning point in that best-of-seven final series. But things should turn out completely different.
The Celtics seized the initiative from the first minute on, winning the first quarter already 24-20. But things should come even worse for Los Angeles, as Boston deployed an impressively strong defensive and didn’t give MVP Kobe Bryant any chance to play his game.
He had scored only 22 points in the end. His teammates Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom were not able to step into the breach and deceived any hopes for a seventh match.
On the other hand, nearly every single Boston player scored at least some points. Shining scorers where Point Guard Rajon Rondo with 21 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and six steals. Kevin Garnett collected 26 points and 14 rebounds while Ray Allen scored 26 points. Paul Pierce (17 points) was marked out as the MVP of the final series.
Congratulations to the Celtics on their 17th NBA title!
